Baseline Assessments - Start understanding your security risks
As discussed in our blog last week. When we were going through our recent rebranding process our team took a long hard look at the list of services we offered. On the back of this, we decided to sort our services into a more coherent structure to make it easier for clients to understand which service would be right for them.
Today, we take a closer look at our Baseline Assessments service line. This service line was developed to assist clients who are looking to gain a greater understanding of how secure their organisation is and to help you implement effective security controls. Baseline Assessments focus on quickly improving your network, systems and applications in-line with best practice. The findings from our Baseline Assessments can be used by your organisation to help you build robust policies, procedures and security controls to improve your overall cybersecurity posture.
Our baseline assessment services allow you to evaluate your networks, systems and applications by identifying issues such as missing patches, out-of-date software and highlight known issues which affect your systems and software. We take a ‘white-box’ approach to baseline assessments, ‘white-box’ testing is a method of testing which tests internal structures or workings of an application as opposed to its functionality. We take a ‘white-box’ approach to baseline assessments and do not undertake exploitative testing against your systems.
Our goal is to provide you with a prioritised list of issues which affect your systems. In contrast, when conducting a penetration test which targets the whole in-scope network by exploiting weaknesses to further uncover issues. We highlight how the exploitation of uncovered issues could impact your business operations and profitability to help you understand how any issues could affect your day to day operations.
Why do you need Baseline Assessments?
Baseline assessments help organisations develop strong security controls and processes which are essential to building effective defences. By engaging in baseline assessments, you can determine how secure your company is and improve on any existing security controls and processes in place or build out security controls from the ground up. By undertaking baseline assessments your company can start on your cybersecurity journey to undertaking a strong defence-in-depth approach to security.
What do Baseline Assessments Consist of?
Our Baseline Assessment service is made up of three key service lines. You can mix and match between our service lines and categories to simulate real-world attacks hackers could subject your organisation to, this enables us to provide you with suitable mitigation strategies on how to prevent such attacks from happening.
Our Configuration Review will provide you with detailed insight and best practice guidance into the security configurations of your off-the-shelf appliances and software products. We will provide you with guidance on how these systems and services should be configured throughout your organisation to ensure they are in-line with best practice.
A Vulnerability Assessment is a low-cost high-value exercise which identifies common vulnerabilities on internal and external networks. The goal of a vulnerability assessment is to deliver a prioritised list of risks to the organisations to allow for cost-effect remediation. At Secora Consulting, we believe in going the extra mile so we manually verify findings to provide your organisation with peace of mind while ensuring any remediation work planned will directly improve your overall security.
